can filling out an MSAF also count for online assignment submissions? If so, do I fill it out before or after the deadline?

Yes, a MSAF is applicable to online assignments, just make sure you indicate that in the drop-down menu. Also, it does not really matter if you submit the MSAF before or after just make sure its within 5 days of the assignment due date.

After filling the MSAF, it might also be a good idea to contact your instructor/IA to see how you can make up the assignment, or if the grading scheme will be changed instead. They automatically get an email when you submit the MSAF, but it might still be a good idea to email them yourself!
