Until recently (3-4 days), I haven't been able to download using newsgroups higher than 30 KB/s on campus! Does anyone know anything about this? Previously, I've gone up to 4 MB/s on a wired connection on campus.

FWIW, downloading massively on campus violates the use of Maccess or whatever it's called - silly, I know - it doesn't stop me, but I suspect they're trying to decrease the abuse of the free internet we partake in.

Throttling torrent and newsgroups would be a good first step, unfortunantly :(

I use newsgroups and usenet as a form of getting massive news worldwide. McMaster University and many other Canadian post-secondary institutions do not have many ties with international schools.

Newsgroups and usenet can be used to download many news headlines and topics including source videos for international news.

I don't understand why McMaster "University" would block our right to international knowledge!
