Be the next finance coordinator for Students Offering Support!
Hey!

Are you a business student and interested in being part of an amazing cause to help students in third world countries get access to education?
If so why not apply to SOS as a finance coordinator!!
Students Offering Support (SOS) is the student-led charitable association that supports and develops University SOS chapters. Within each SOS chapter, student volunteers work together to raise marks which raises money to ultimately raise roofs for children in Latin America, helping them acquire access to a quality education.
Students Offering Support and the Exam-AID initiative was founded by Greg Overholt while he was an undergraduate student at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2004.
So far, since 2004, SOS has tutored over 25,000 different students and raised over $1,400,000 for various sustainable development projects over the last four years in countries such as Kenya, Belize, Jamaica, Honduras, Peru, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. Currently, for the 2009-2010 school year, there are 15 SOS chapters working together to raise $200,000 for several educational development projects that SOS student volunteers will be building at the end of the year on volunteer outreach trips !
So what does this FINANCE COORDINATOR do you ask?
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for all of the chapter’s accounting and local sponsorship. To excel
in this position you must love working with both numbers and people, and approach projects with a great deal of maturity. Here’s what’s involved:
▪ Manage the bank account, expenses, and proper reporting to ensure compliance with revenue Canada’s annual audit for SOS’s charitable status.
▪ Compile all necessary details for donors and coordinating the process of issuing tax receipts with a representative from Canada SOS.
▪ Solicit sponsorship from the local community to help cover costs and to generate additional support for the target community/project of your volunteer outreach trip.
▪ Communicate with rest of the Executive team and President on financial updates.

If you're interested please fill out the attached application and email it back to [email protected] by August 31st.

Thanks!
