Off campus registration
This title may be misleading, but I think it describes my situation perfectly.
Basically, I'd like to know as to how am I supposed to get an Off-campus residence. That is, I know where are the Ads, and I know about the location, however, what do I do from there? What did you do when you have a choice of houses to take?

so if you visit mcmaster's site and see all the available places for off campus residences, set up meetings to go see the houses/buildings that you are interested in (obviously if you aren't from around mcmaster try to make them on the same day/weekend). If you find a place that you are interested in renting then make sure to ask for the contract and look through it and, if necessary, modify it with the landlord. When you are ready to make your decision contact the landlord and sign for it! They'll let you know when you can move in and your responsibilities as a renter. It was very easy the only hard part is picking the place you want to live!

Off-campus housing not run by the school, nor is it something that you register for. There is a website where there are postings (google should pull it up), but it's up to you to call up landlords and whatnot. You can also take a walk in the area and take note of any "For Lease" signs.
