Panicked about Biochem mid-year thesis marks
Hi!
Here's my situation, I'm a 4th year Biochemistry student, I am currently taking Biochem4T15 (consists of 2 oral presentation, final thesis paper, 2 mid-year lab performance marks).
I've put in a lot of time in the lab and got some decent results which were presented in the 1st oral presentation. Overall, I feel like I prepared properly for the presentation itself but I really got grilled on the question period by the professors after. After receiving my mark and comments back, it seemed that the question period was my weakest element, while a few of the comments were about explaining my background a little bit better. My oral presentation was a 84% (weighted for 10% of the entire 15 units). My mid-year lab performance mark was a 90% weighted for 15% of the 15 units).

I'm honestly a little worried because I'm hoping to do really well in this thesis course (since I've been putting a ton of effort into it) and I haven't heard from anyone who has done this thesis course about how they ended up doing for their final marks. So my question are to those that have previously done a biochem4T15 thesis or currently doing it... how did your marks fair ? and do people usually get >90% on the mid-year performance marks/oral presentations?

I know I might get some heat for seeming like I'm complaining about my marks, but I'm not, I'm just looking to see where I stand in comparison and what to expect

Thanks!

Err...no, people do not usually get >90%. If it is considered typical to get >90% in a course, particularly a thesis-based one, then something is wrong with the course/grading.

I don't think you should expect "heat" for sounding like you're complaining about marks, I think you should expect it for sounding like you expect or feel entitled to get >90%.
