Physics 2B06

This course is one of the core courses for the Physics program that you will take when entering second year. For at least the past 4 years, Dr. McKay has been the prof.
I really didn't enjoy this course when I took it. In lecture, it is very difficult to follow what he is saying or even just to stay awake. There is no real textbook for the class so you need to keep your notes in order. But, seeing as the lectures aren't very good, you'll see where the problem comes about.
The labs are somewhat interesting but your grade outcome is very dependent on your TA. In my year, there was one TA who gave out really good marks and then one who, of course, did not and was excruciatingly nit-picky. I'm not too sure if this problem still exists with the current TAs.
The assignments are very difficult as well. You will want to collaborate with your classmates or else they will take forever. You should also start them as soon as you get them.
I would also recommend spending time in ABB 201 to get help if you need it for any course. Upperyears are usually up there working so it's a great place to get help.
This course is a lot of work but if you take use the advice above, you should be fine.

Oh absolutely..I just finished the first half of the course and I already agree that your mark is dependent on your TA for the labs;..my lab section's marks are all 50s and 60s whereas the other sections are getting 90s and above...i think there's something wrong with that =P

Relative to other second year physics courses, how time consuming is this course?
