I am just wondering how much you guys procrastinate? (I know you all do!).

Myself, i procrastinate a lot and then try to cram everything in on the last night. I have a Geo assignment due tomorrow and I still havent started it even though i have had the article opened for 4 hours now (literally!). I actaully cleaned my room and made this topic so I dont have to do Geo.

I am behind in all my courses (2 chapters in math, 2.4 chapters in elec physics and i can go on for rest of my courses but u get hte idea) and I want to catch up yet days and nights (incl weekends) seem to fly by and I dont seem to get any work done.

I would like to say I work better when under pressure, but sadly that is the only time I actually work. Theres just so much distractions whiel trying to work (youtube, red flag deals, sleep....)

So how much do u all procrastinate?

I sort of procrastinate, I just plan to study within the few days before the next assignment/midterm is due.

it sucks if something comes up during the time I need to study. Then I just cram.

I procrasinate quite a bit, but I've reached the point where there is so much work being thrown at me that I don't really have that much time to "procrastinate". My "procrastinating" time is basically my breaks from doing work.

I procrastinate pretty bad. I try to work ahead of time but it's difficult not to get distracted.

I like to look at things in small chunks. Instead of thinking "I'm going to sit down and write my essay", I think "I'm going to sit down and find all the references I need for my essay". Then the next day, I think "Now I'm going to summarize those references and find important quotes for my essay". This makes it easier to get things done. I won't be as easily distracted because I won't have as much work and it's not as overwhelming.

Actually, this year isn't so bad as last year (oh first year..). Actually, SOMETIMES I'm ahead for some classes (pretty rare though.) Sometimes, I'm caught up. But then, for the classes I'm caught up in - there's always one class that I'm behind in. Ah, distractions.

I have a midterm tomorrow at 8:30 in the morning and I started studying during my evening class today.

I think that I'm actually going to pay for my procrastination this time though.

First Year was horrible. I procrastinated SOOO much. :(
It's still the same. I thought i'd improve but I agree it's not as bad as first year, where I'd start studying for a 8:30am midterm at 10:00pm the night before. That was one crazy experience.
I really don't know what to do about it though. hmpf*

I actually have gained worse study habits as I have gone on in my academic career. It's not that I leave things to the last minute entirely, but I do with the writing in some ways. I tend to be a perfectionist, which kind of sucks because sometimes you just need to put paper to pen and not worry about the details.

To all younger students, if it is a big problem get help early on before it becomes a very bad habit. Go to CSD, talk to your profs and/or TAs.

I tend to work only when there is no other chance to do it anymore. for ex. if I have an assignment that is due in two days, I don't like to do it until the night before the deadline because I keep saying " I can do it tomorrow".... very bad habit though ....

there is a tip that I knew from the videos on the CSD website which is called "Winning through Wedging" and it says that when you feel that u r procrastinating, tell urself that u're going to study only for 5 mins and time it using a kitchen timer, when these five minutes are over, ask urself whether u want a break or continue studying.. the video says that most probably u will gain some momentum during these five minutes that will make u want to continue studying... but if u needed a break then time the break using the kitchen timer and when it's over then do another five minutes of studying and ask urself again and so on...
