Question about engineering.
Hello,
I am thinking of taking grade 12 chemistry in summer school. I am thinking of going into engineering Would this be a good/bad idea? I've heard they teach you more inorganic chemistry and that is good for engineering.
Any suggestions, opinions, or whatever are greatly appreciated!

DO IT, Engineering is cats meow. You don't even have to choose what branch of engineering until second year so as long as you know you like science you're good. You have to take chemistry first year no matter what, so definitely do chemistry.

organic chem is good for 2nd year biomed / chembio but inorganic chem is great for first year. I would think anything to help lower the difficulty in 1st year would be beneficial.

Isn't grade 12 chem a pre-req for Engineering anyway?

wait, i dont get this. you need gr 12 chem for engineering acceptance anyways. do it in the year and relax in the summer. and what teaches you more inorganic? gr 12 or engineering?

Grade 12 chem is a requirement for getting into engineering at mcmaster. If you are not starting engineering at mac this September, then it's up to you if you want to take it this summer or next year.
Just make sure to understand the material, because chem 1e03 is very similar to grade 12 chem.

Sorry for being unclear. I am taking grade 12 chemistry regardless. I am just wondering if I should take it in the summer or not?
EDIT: If I take chemistry in summer school, it will be between my grade 11 - 12 year, not my grade 12 - university year.

McMaster doesn't care about summer school marks like other Universities.
Do whatever you want, as long as it will give you the highest grade in the end to enter McMaster.

Grade 12 chem covers 1st year chem (mostly). Do reailze your mark will not be factored since it is taken in summer in your admission average.

Intern at an engineering firm first or something to see if you'd like it. The engineering they teach in school and the actual work you do aren't... completely the same.

Well, you probably won't go as in depth, and people have already said your mark won't count for admissions (which could be good or bad).
I highly doubt you'll go as in depth as you would during the year.

I thought Mac didn't care whether you've taken summer school for a course or not?

So did I lol...I was too lazy to check myself, and it's been many years since I had to worry about that. I just repeated with what other people said, but it's always good to double check yourself.
