				regrets?

I have been reading a few posts from mac students regarding engineering and life sciences and it seems like majority of you guys either hate the programs or aren't really satisfied. So would you guys advice highschool students to away from Mcmaster and go to another school instead?

It depends on what your coming in for, as a student I personally have no loyalty to Mcmaster, I pay for tuition and in return they give me a degree that can help me get the job that I want, if I see a program at a different school that would give me an edge in getting the job I want I would go there if my marks are good enough.

A lot of us, myself included, may ***** and moan about Mac but at the end of the day the green is always going to seem greener on the other side.

Some other programs may seem appealing and people might say "Man I wish I went to ________ instead.." but it's only because from the outside looking in you can only see the positives. It's only until you actually attend a university that you realize there are certain flaws that you just have to live with.

Don't be scared away because you see us complaining. No matter where you go, you'll likely have something to be pissed off about next year as well
Sometimes I think about the other programs that I applied to (Western Biomed, something at Ottawa) and wonder if I made a mistake. In the end, I always realize that Mac is a great school and I picked it for a lot of great reasons.

My choices were between Mac, Queen's, Western,Ottawa and U of T and in the end I am so happy I chose Mac. In terms of workload and courses I am going to say they are all about the same but what it comes down to for me is the proximity to my home in Toronto while still being away from home lol and also the atmosphere on campus and the people I have met. I don't regret choosing Mac one bit and if I could go back in time I would choose it again!

And also I want to add that for me it seemed that most of the courses were fair meaning that if you studied and work hard you will get the marks you deserve, I say most of because of my small exception of Physics 1B03.

No regrets at all, I initially was going to go to Guelph for sociology and anthropology, but the last minute I changed my mind, and it worked out for the better because Guelph doesn't have a social work school.

Students from every faculty ***** and complain about something, this isn't an issue exclusive to Mac. The workload, more or less, is the same just about everywhere, but what really matters is atmosphere. Every UofT science student I know (actually, most UofT undergrads in general) tend to be unhappy because of the highly competitive environment. People at UofT also tend to be on edge all the time, so they're always ready to cut your throat over anything related to academics. Mac's pretty laidback in comparison.

The only people that regret choosing a school are those who did not do enough research during senior year of highschool, but again, much of that regret is because they didn't do enough research for any institution, so it's more a matter of what they don't know as opposed to what they do.

TL;DR come to Mac

If you're still looking for reasons to come to come to McMaster, MacInsiders should definitely be one of them.
This site saved my ass too many times to count and it's pretty cool getting answers straight from students.
Edit: These days a lot of people do Masters, PhDs, or go to professional schools so you'll likely get another chance to pick your university .

Engineering is hard in every school and science doesn't lead to any jobs in any school... going to another University isn't really going to change that

I find there are a lot of people who ***** about nothing at this school like "wow Mac is too cheap too salt the other half of the staircase" and "centro is shit" and "mugsi is god awful". The only legitimate complaint about the school is mugsi anything else is based on the individual.

I regret it. Only because I wish I would have stayed closer to home. There are to many distractions when living away. But thats just me.
