Tell them to contact Housing. It's possible provided there is space.

Yes it is possible to do so. The online application for 2nd term should have been up on Oct 1st , but its not there yet. I spoke to them and they said that their system is down for maintenance and will be up in a few days (by the end of this week).

Moreover, on the mac residence home page it says "The Residence Portal will down for routine maintenance starting Friday October 1st 2010 4:30 PM. It is anticipated that the portal will return to operation on Sunday October 3rd 2010"

I currently commute from Mississauga everyday and find it difficult to cope with late evening group works and individual studying. When I first applied to mac, I was guaranteed a single room... but my parents didnt feel comfortable with me moving away. However, later after visiting mac with me and realizing how long and tiring the commute was (30 min local transit + 45 mins GO bus), they asked me to apply to res. By the time I did , it was too late and I was put on the wait list. 2 days before welcome week (a friday), I got a call saying that I got in and that I had to pay the fee by friday midnight and move in the next day morning 9 am. The notice was too short , and I was not mentally prepared for it. Moreover, even if I did pay and move in the next day, they told me that i was going to be put in a temporary residence (bunk and loft McKay) for welcome week and then would be allotted a permanent res later on. I didn't want to pay a hefty amount and play a lottery game (i really want a single room)

Hence, I'm gonna have to commute 1st sem, but definitely applying for the 2nd sem! The residence officials told me that the only spots that become available in 2nd term are from exchange/co-op students leaving mac and 1st year drop outs. So spots are limited.
