Residence Move-In
So I am a little confused to HOW I will be moving all my stuff into my Res. Are we suppose to park at the nearest parking lot, or do we get to park outside our Res? I will be living in Bates, and I do not see any nearby parking lots. Does that mean I have to WALK with all my stuff?
ahhh. That's soooooo unfair.

You get dropped off in front of the building, and then your parents (if you're being dropped off) park the car in one of the parking lots nearby =].

Hm..Guess I need a really long string to connect me and my dad. THere is almost a 100000% chance hes going to get lost after he parks.

Lol, I'm sure he'll be fine. They'll be other people parking so he can follow them.

Well, he'll only have to get on campus. Then there's a bunch of reps around that he can ask.

No, no no no no!
Okay, so if you're a first year student you will move in on either the 5th or 6th I can't remember off hand which day Bates moves in. Essentially, you'll see the IRC reps in their white jump suits direct you to an unloading area. There will be numerous Welcome Week reps asking your parent to open your trunk and they'll unload and move everything to your room for you. Then your parent will go and park somewhere. You will not be carrying huge boxes back and forth so no stress. If you're an upper year you can still momentarily park in the designated area but without help from WWReps.

It doesn't hurt to give your dad a map, just in case! And it also shows the parking lots on it. So knowing what parking lot he's in (entrance signs and whatnot), he can find his way back by asking people and such !
PS- don't forget to circle bates on the map or something

After you leave your boxes (make sure they're labeled properly) with the reps you go and get your keys. If you come at the time you're supposed to by the time you get your keys and get up to your room your stuff should be there or almost there. Then you can go in with your parents or whoever and unpack and set up your room.

If you go and get your MacPass at the same time as your keys, there is a 99% chance your stuff will be up by the time you get back.

Ah yes. I felt like there was something else I did before I went up to my room in first year. I think I grabbed my keys and then my MacPass and then I went up to my room. I actually can't remember though.
