RESP Forms
HEY. So I'm trying to get the money out of my RESP to pay for tuition, but it's really damn complicated. Apparently I need to sign the forms, which is fine, but I don't live in Hamilton. Is there a way to get them mailed to me? I was told there was BUT I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE SDKJDSJKKFLJS.
Please don't tell me to call the registrar. I was on hold for an hour last time I called ):
OKAY THANKS.

hey there. I completed me RESP papers a few weeks ago. I think there were 2 or 3 papers that needed to be completed. One of them was for your parents and you which you mail in by mid July (or early july..cant remember). The other one or two needed to go to McMasters Finicial Aid office to get signed for proof of enrollment. I think Mac signs or completes the form(s) and sends it to your RESP company. I think thats what it was. I still haven't handed in my proof of enrollment form since it has no deadline. I guess I'll hand it in on Aug 6 (welcome day).
Hope that helps.
And an hours on hold seems reasonable. I just put my phone on speaker while its on hold, and take a nap. When you hear someone say "hello? hello?" I just pick up the phone and start talking. LOL Hope that helps too.

Depending on your bank, they might take alternate documentation for your proof of enrollment. My RESP is with TD, and last year I was able to access it by showing my payment agreement as my proof of enrollment.

I recently received my RESP, so I can help you out. You need to fill out an External Agency Form, which can be found here:
http://www.mcmaster.ca/indigenous/ex...y%20f orm.pdf
Mail it to the address at the bottom of the form to get it signed by a McMaster university official. He/she will then send it back to you, which you can then give it to your RESP agent as proof that you will be enrolling in university. After that, your agent should release the money.

Yeah just echoing what other people have said, the company that is giving you the RESP should have forms for you to fill out, so I don't think it's McMaster you should be calling first; it should be the company.
EDIT: Also from past experience, one of the forms should go to the Registrar's office for proof of enrollment, not the Financial Aid Office, as stated above....although maybe different companies have different requirements..??

Yeah, different companies have different requirements, so it's best to first ask YOUR agent to see what you need to do and what forms you need to complete.
