Soc Sci 2BU3

I took this course in Fall 2012 with a Mohawk professor, Mike Michalski. A lot of it is a rehash from high school business classes if you took them, and a lot of it seemed like common sense.

Very straightforward class. We touched on many aspects of business, however briefly, including marketing, accounting, operations, ethics, external environments, organizational behaviour, etc. All his notes are on Avenue, and the textbook was way unnecessary in my opinion. The advantage to going into class is that you really see what he spends a lot of time talking about, because that's what he tested on.

The midterm and final were very reasonable (we got to design our own essay question and then answer it on the final, lol) and if you went to class there were no surprises there. There were two assignments done in groups; the first was on corporate social responsibility, where we analyzed and compared two different corporations, and the second was on management styles in episodes of The Office and Hell's Kitchen. Really easy to do well on.

Easy class, give it a try if you're mildly interested in business. Just don't expect anything with much depth.
