Sociology 2V06
Overview: Basically this course looks at the workforce and how humans become workers, how they are treated based on things like social/cultural/human capital etc. It looks at McDonald workers, Law firms, Insurance companies etc. The things you learn are interesting enough.
This course had 4 tests: One midterm, One final exam and two tests. We did not have any papers, there were optional presentations to boost your mark and no podcasts/lecture slides posted online or used. We had 3 textbooks and one courseware.
I hated the prof: he used overheads for this class but always stated that what he said was more important than what was on the overheads. So at times it was confusing to try and take down what he was saying while also reading the overheads. He also trailed off and went on a tangent very often. The material we studied was interesting, but the way we were tested on them was not so much. He would do only 1 hour exams/tests for essay format exams, which was NOT enough time for anyone to write enough. And they were not just like 1-2 questions, it was usually 3-6 with each question worth a lot of marks. I even spoke to the previous TA of this class whom said it was an issue with students a year before, so clearly he didn't want to change.
The material is interesting, but if it's the same prof for the following years this is not a class you can just skip often or not read the material, especially with 4 textbooks.
