Software and Embedded 2nd Year

I am going into second year software and embedded systems. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me for which course a textbook is an absolute must and for which it isn't. So that I buy only the ones that are must. For eg. I bought book for math 2z03 as people told me thats all that I have to gain any knowledge about the subject from since profs aren't great.
