Wow bud, I have privacy settings on my profile. What am I hiding? NOTHINIG, I personally don't like it when people facebook stalk me, why do they need to know about my life? They can add me if they want. To say that people with insane privacy settings are pretty creepy is a real generalization, thanks for calling us all creepy for just watching our own backs, hats off to you...*cough*

I believe in freedom of information, and that includes information about one's personal life.

It's called personal life for a reason; it's PERSONAL.
If you feel so strongly about the sharing of information, why don't you just post a link to your facebook profile, your email, your bank info, SIN number, and everything else here? By your beliefs it should be perfectly fine.

thats cool, im sure other people share your belief as well. However, others believe that information of one's personal life should have restrictions, therefore things such as privacy settings are put in place ....you can choose to enable them or not.

Indeed! I do the same with any and all online networks; I prefer to keep closed with only friends than to share personal information freely with everyone on such networks. Heh, I've even go as far as using my middle name instead of my first in order to avoid people searching my up on networks like facebook . I just feel that few people should have the right to lurk around and read my private messages between friends and family. I find it almost dissettling that someone would be offended just because this arsonist wishes to keep his facebook closed. It's his freedom of choice, regardless of what he's done.

If I truly cared about my privacy I wouldn't have created a facebook account. Although facebook stalkers do creep me out a bit..

There is some validity to the point, but I know some people that simply use facebook as a means of keeping in contact with distant relatives and really care to keep their conversations private . Privacy settings are there just cater to everyone's needs as phoenix mentioned.
And I know exactly what you mean about the stalkers; I deleted my myspace account because of this fact!

Well you can always contact distant relatives through email. I know I do. People can, surprisingly, live without facebook

Your post reminds me of Katy Perry's hot and cold
Alistair doesn't need to have his mind made up.
Why do people always need to defend themselves? Why can't we just speak, yeah sure sometimes we'll contradict ourselves, who cares?

I've personally been in a fairly serious situation with Facebook... after some random dude found my sister on facebook, he befriended her, then hacked into her FB AND hotmail account, found personal information in both and started using it against her, to the point where the police were involved. She and I both have really "insane" privacy settings now, as you can imagine.
Personally, I'm trying to hide myself from a potentially dangerous situation... and yeah, I'm the creepy one.

Anyone who's gonna hide their facebook account must have something worth hiding, some sort of secret. Otherwise there'd be no problem in "coming out".
Also, it may be your sister's fault for allowing herself to get hacked, have you ever thought of that?

It's true, I do have a lot of secrets, like all people. I definitiely have a LOT of things worth hiding. What exactly is your point? You don't have a single secret?
Have YOU ever thought about the fact that by your reasoning, people could use that as an excuse for just about anything?
It's like saying "She was wearing a short skirt, she was asking to get raped."
Or, getting back to the topic at hand, "They allowed newspapers in the building, its THEIR fault someone set the building on fire."
