Students in Physics 1B03
This thread applies primarily to commuting students in Physics 1B03 or any other students who wish to help out. As you've probably seen in the recently released exam timetable, the Physics 1B03 exam is to take place at 19:30. Assuming it's 3 hours long (and considering it's worth 50% it very likely will be), that leaves us commuting students in a tight spot, as the GO Buses stop coming to McMaster at 22:20. This is not even taking into account the reduced schedule the buses run on in December. Some will be fortunate enough to have parents to pick them up, but I'm sure for others it won't be so easy. Now it's definitely a long shot, but if you're in my position, as someone who commutes from Square One, or commute from even farther, I simply propose you send an email to the Scheduling and Examination Office at [email protected] to bring this to their attention so that they may reconsider, seeing as the exam timetable was just released. I've never heard of an exam being rescheduled, but I've also never heard of one being scheduled for a weekend night. So if you're in my position, or just want to help out, please consider emailing them. It can't hurt to try really, and the time to send the email is very little.

Thanks

They always have exams on Saturday nights. This happens every year. You're expected to have academic commitments Mon through Sat (no times are specified) and it's your responsibility to deal with getting yourself to and from McMaster on time. I know some people who commute usually sleep over if they have an exam Sat night (either at a friend's place or in the student centre). You're not going to get it changed.

The worst that could happen is that it stays the same. But numbers are what are needed. So any support for this would be much appreciated.
Okay, let's say for a minute that it is actually changed, which has a zero percent chance of happening. What happens when the new timeslot is worse for some people for whatever reason? If they change it to accommodate some people, the new time has to be agreed upon by everyone, which won't happen. It'll just screw other people over.

Yes, it sucks, but the university's policy is that you chose to come to Mac, you're told when to expect to have academic commitments, so it's your responsibility to be able to get to (and from) Mac during those times. Commuting students don't get any special privileges or entitlements.

Anyways, you can try, but I think it's a) pointless and b) selfish.

It was only 2 hours long last year. So confirm if the exam will be 3 hours before you go emailing the Registrar.

They aren't going to change it. Saturday is considered an academic day and some programs (mostly Divinity related) actually have courses on Saturdays. Just have your family come to Mac and pick you up. Are they not capable of doing that?
