by outline, do u mean the course package that tells u which chapters will be covered and the course expectations stuff? i think the summer outline is the same as the outline provided over the period of the normal term. i believe the only difference will be is that it will be a lot compressed. they start off with the review chapters (which are chapters 1-4, 6). i think that over the non-summer period, this was covered in 2 weeks, so in summer school, i m assuming it will be covered in 1 week. after this, the order in which the chapters will be taught are chapters 8, 9, 10, 15, 5, 20, 7, 16, and 19...and all this will be taught over 6-7 weeks.

i hope this was what u were looking for.

Thats going to be about 1/4 to 1/2 of the course, isn't it? Why bother even signing up in the first semester?

During the normal school year, there is a midterm approx one month in (usually around thanksgiving weekend), which is 1/4 of the way through the term. If you're missing the first two weeks, then that's the first quarter of the term, so you could very realistically be looking at a midterm before you are able to attend classes, or immediately after. Also, you would be missing at least two labs, which could result in failing the course. I'm not sure if you need to do all of the labs to pass, but it is a good possibility.
If you can't make it to the first two weeks, there really isn't much point in registering at all. You might as well save the $500+.

How many weeks are you planning on missing? Summer school is much more fast-paced that the regular school year. So for Chem 1A03, the entire course is about 7 weeks of class. So you can have a midterm within the first 3 or so weeks of class. If that's the case, I really don't recommend it, because not only will you suffer trying to keep up but your marks might suffer as well.

If I remember correctly, you're only excused from one lab without automatic failure during the school year. I have a feeling you're not allowed to miss any labs in summer school though.

It's really not worth taking THIS course if you're gona miss more than a week because you're very likely to waste your time/money and fail it. My suggestion is that if you just want to get a course out of the way, sign up for something else (probably best to go with something without labs).
