If you get into a second-year program, then fail a course in summer school that drops your average below the minimum requirement for that program, your offer won't be rescinded. Conversely, if you get rejected from a second-year program and then take courses in summer school to boost your average, you won't automatically be accepted into the program. If the program is limited enrollment, then you can apply to the dept and see if they have any spots available (from people rejecting their offers), but there is no guarantee. If it's not limited enrollment, then you'll still have to apply to the dept but you shouldn't have a problem.
If your offer of acceptance was conditional on completing a course or multiple courses in summer school, then how you do in these courses will affect the program you're eligible for for the fall term.
If it's an issue of you being right on the border of the CA required to continue in your program, and you take a summer school course and bomb it, which drops your CA below, then I don't *think* you get kicked out because the average isn't technically reviewed until May, but you should double-check with an academic advisor.
If you're in a different situation entirely, then can you elaborate?
