Once the course list comes out, you can see what the books are and if they are available elsewhere (i.e. used bookstores, Chapters, Amazon etc). I think the list comes out in mid-July?

Your best bet would be to try and get them off of upper years. Used books from the on-campus book store tend to be kind of a rip-off.

We sell used books at Titles, the University Bookstore.
If you check the MacInsiders marketplace, you can also find upper years who are selling their old textbooks. Just make sure the professor for your course hasn't upgraded to the newer version of the textbook. Often, the new version doesn't make TOO much of a difference, but if it does, it could make a world of difference.
On a side note, PM me for first year life sci texts when the list comes out, and I'll see if I have any.

I've heard that titles likes to rip you off when you sell back books. Better off selling the books directly to the students needing them.

I have tons of textbooks sitting in my apartment - but a lot of them have underlining and some highlighting, are a lot of people picky about this? I know I sort of am.

You get something like 25% of the sale price...so for a $100 book you'd get $25 books back.

Yup, they definitely do.
Which is why using Undercovers or buying/selling directly to other students is much better.

Yup.
You bring in your books and set a price (let's say $20 for a textbook). If someone wants that textbook they are paying $20, but then Undercovers takes a percentage of that $20.

Ah ok, makes sense. The percentage isn't ridiculous right? like 10-15%?
