Textbook Grant
Hey Everyone;
I am just wondering if anyone is still waiting for their $150 textbook grant. I did not apply to OSAP so I recognize it is suppose to take a bit longer; but I am still "IN PROCESSING" since September. I am wondering if anyone else is in my situation still waiting, if not I will have to investigate further.
Thanks;

I'm still waiting too. I know people who have OSAP who've gotten it though, so hopefully it won't be too long (although I've already got all my textbooks).

I'm still waiting and I know a few others who are still waiting, all who didn't apply for OSAP.

I got mine ages ago, then again, I'm on OSAP. I know a ton of non-osap students are still waiting. I hope they get it to you guys before the school year ends!

Has anyone called that number Chris posted and asked about it???
I too am curious when I'm getting my check! Last I heard, from our forum discussion on this topic back in NOVEMBER of last year, Joey Coleman posted that he spoke with people who informed him that the people that didn't get OSAP have been delayed in processing since the govt needs to get a list of students from the universities to match up with those who applied for the grant... since they need to prove you're a student and not just some random guy that applied via the website with a fake student number? Seems like that shouldn't take months to do... and why does the Govt not have a list of who's attending which universities??
Joey? You there?

I'll see what I can find out. That said, the government doesn't seem to be answering my questions lately. The legislature is not sitting at the present time, so I have no way of reaching the Minister for comment.
That said, it should not be taking this long.

You'd think that instead of making us apply and then asking the university for a list of students they'd just get a list of students and give everyone a check, since the grant is supposed to be for everyone, not just those who realise they had to apply.

Mine has finally changed from "Ministry is processing the request" to "File sent to institution for confirmation"
I filled mine out on September 17th and I don't apply for OSAP.
Pretty ridiuclous.. I know people in the same program as me, who applied much later than me, and who don't use OSAP - and they got theirs in November.
I called the info number to see why it was taking so long, and it kept telling me "There are zero callers ahead of you in line" while I was on hold. Then after 15 minutes, it says "There are five callers ahead of you in line"
Ugh. I eventually hung up.
