Read this article. I am so appalled on how this mother treats her children. I am so irate and at the same time pity her children that they wont experience the freedom that majority of children do in North America. Just to clarify, I am by no means smearing an entire Asian community only the author of this blog.

Ugh.
These girls end up being really difficult to be with in a relationship though.

Lol why would you possibly be irate?
Those kids don't know what they're missing, and more importantly those are the people who will find "little things" such as school, work, making money, managing money, and life, fairly easy.
Some things I find a little excessive, but overall the mentality seems pretty strong to have successful kids.

This describes my parents to a T, with the exception of the extracurricular stuff. I was allowed to chose when I got older. After I was forced into playing piano for hours :|
But I liked how they parented for the most part...gave me a backbone. Well..I like it now, when I can appreciate what they did.
Oh also...my parents aren't Asian, they're Egyptian.

Way to raise your kid to be socially retarded @ [email protected]
Evidenced by the inability for anyone whom I know that is indian or chinese (broad generalization and stereotyping but I don't care, you know what I mean) to not be a total idiot unless the conversation is about entry into medical school, grades or entry into medical school.

So which is, be the best you can be, or fit into the stereotypical Asian mold?
I have no problem with wanting/forcing your kids to excel. But no instrument other than piano or violin? That's just ****ing retarded.
Yes, RETARDED. QQ about it.

Agreed with Kendoon.
Here's an experiment, try it yourself kiddos.
Go up to a health sci student and say, "Hey, hows it going?"
They'll responds with "What? Im socially awkwardddddd wahhhh :( "

Who says Asians become the top neurosurgeons in the country...quite a generalization. Getting into any professional school is about personal work ethic, not a matter of parental 'torture' to coerce you into completing tasks. By 20 a person be they white or asian should be capable of making decisions on their own (To study or to not study) so what difference does it make to positively encourage children at a young age vs. bombarding them with totalitarian methods...
What is for sure though is that in a comparison between Asians and North Americans I am positive that more North Americans can agree that they have better relationships with their parents than Asians do (Heard it from an Asian myself and it's not hard to believe).
