The University (senate) Scholarships
Anyone know anything about these scholarships? I'm listed as eligible for consideration on MUGSI. Does anyone know when such a scholarship would be finalized? I wouldn't mind some extra cash

University Senate Scholarship
Awarded to in-course students, by Faculty, with a full-time (24 units or more) average of at least 9.5. Quotas are established each year and award winners would be in the top 10-15% of your Faculty. Enrolment numbers by Faculty are also available in the Registrar's Annual Report.
I wouldn't know when the scholarship would be given out though.
Edit: I also found out it's worth 800$.

Alright, I'll have to keep an eye on it. Anything that helps pay off tuition is awesome.

Odd, I never received one of these, despite knowing people with lower Sessional/CA than me, who did (in the same faculty). S:
Unless they changed the criteria for awarding them, something seems a-miss.

It says award winners would be in the top 10-15%. So I'm assuming they don't give it so everyone in the top 10-15%. But it doesn't quite make complete sense because the award is based strictly on academics.

When they say 10-15%, they mean that based on how many people, they'll give it to the to x% of people. If there are a large number, then the top 10% will get it, a small number, the top 15%...but it should fall somewhere in the middle.
The confusing thing is that some years I'd get say, a high 10 / low 11 average and I wouldn't get one, whereas I know someone in the same faculty with a low 10 who got it consistently. *shrug*

Hmmm, I'm not sure... it says " award winners would be in the top 10-15% of your Faculty." I understand that has award winners are in the top 10-15% but the top 10-15% don't all get the award. I don't know, as always McMaster's wording is horrible.

I checked this afternoon and I was awarded the scholarship after being listed as eligible for awhile now.
On a related note, I was also awarded this scholarship and I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was given out to more than one person?

it doesnt seem like it is given out to more than 1 person...it does say awarded to "the student", which i assume implies one.
