Upcoming Years
Just a question about 2nd, 3rd, 4th years:
There's an average 15% drop from high school to university, from what I can tell.
Is there another sort of drop from first to second year? To third year?
Just wondering because I'm doing pretty well right now, and I'm just curious to see how much harder I'll have to work to maintain this GPA for next year, and the next, and the next, etc.
Thanks a lot.

It's a case to case basis. My marks went up a lot following first year.

you drop in first year as you get used to the new system and schedule...i'm in third year and find that the further you go the better you can get in your groove and return to the form you had in high school.

I'm in my last year... but if I had to rank my previous years on difficulty (hardest to easiest):
3rd > 1st > 2nd

4th year is ridiculous if you're doing a lab-based thesis because the amount of time that you spend.
1 > 3 > 2 in difficulty.

I did a little better every single year I was at Mac since I got used to the expectations and stresses of university life. I went from an 8.5 in 1st year to an 11.6 in 4th.

I've done better every year as well; although this term could get interesting. :S

I dropped a few percent from HS to first year (85 to 80)... second year is tough though. The expectations are definitely higher - but the workload isn't necessarily heavier. It depends on the classes you are taking. I still have an 80 average as of right now, but that can change hahaha. I hear that 2nd and 4th year are toughest.

Depnds on your program, I'm in Commerce and I think the level of difficulty and time required as of now (I'm in third year) is 2nd>3rd>1st

I would say going there is a definite jump in difficulty from first year eng to eng physics.

Thanks a lot guys, for the replies.
I'm currently in Life Sciences, Level 1 by the way. Is there sort of a year ranking for that? I suppose it doesn't matter, should be trying my hardest in every year...
I hear that second year is killer though.

Yeah, I'm in your program, and I know what you mean.
I've dropped about 3% thus far, presumably due to the "adjustment" phase at the start of the year. But I have a feeling that the expectations are going to increase largely as time goes on - perhaps the adjustment won't be as severe as high school to University, but there will still be changes after first year.
