Waiter @ 1280
Does anyone knw how to apply to 1280 to be a waiter and what the hours are like? i personally want like 6 hours a week. I tried emailing 1280 myself and got no response. Schools starting soon so i assume they need to hire soon. Any help would be appreciated or any good campus jobs that you enjoyed wuld be great

They just got new management so everything is a bit chaotic right now, your email may have just slipped through the cracks. Go to 1280 in person and ask to talk to one of the managers, you'll probably have more luck.

Boston Pizza should also be looking for new waiters right about now (they tend to train in late summer to prepare for the fall rush) so you might wanna drop by and apply there as well.

Well first you have to be able to stand around a lot and make people wait for a long time before you take their order.. and then wait before you punch it in.. and then wait before they get it so it's cold. Oh and never be available, so they have to hunt you down for anything like cutlery or a refill....

haha, nah actually i dont know anything about it but it might be on their site, which i think is off the msu site...

That's not true. I went last week and we waited over 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. They never did, so we left. At any other restaurant servers are at the table within two minutes. Hopefully with new management the servers will actually receive some training.

Yeah, the waitresses at 1280 just plain suck. (Do they hire guys or was it just an estrogen fest that night?)

Probably why 1280/Quarters loses in excess of $250,000 annually.

They've been generally better under the new management, this is the first time I'm hearing of someone going there this summer and not noticing that it's significantly better.

Isn't he part of the SRA/MSU? They have a vested interest in making it successful and pretending that it's great

Seriously Disagree with the latter, Just sayin

I do however have very high hopes for the new manager & management. His presentation and ideas at our recent meeting did induce a level of optimism in the usually extremely pessimistic me.

He did however touch upon changes to training with staff and bouncers. I personally haven't had issues with 1280 so far in the summer, but then again I usually get take away from the Bar Tender so I can't tell what the dine in experience is like.

If anyone has any suggestions or specific concerns please feel free to pm me, I'm around in Hamilton for the next few weeks atleast and would be happy to relay them to the manager. This is a transitional phase for them and is ideally the best time to take in new ideas and suggestions.

I went this summer to 1280 and the waiters were also taking a long time. But it was also during the time when one of the semifinal matches were playing, coupled in with the fact that they only had 3 waiters serving at the time. SO MAYBE IT'S JUST ME. HRMMMMM.

Also, screw 1280. Phoenix is better anyways.
