Which room?
I've found a 6 bedroom student house which has 2 rooms up for rent. The house is a 15 minute walk from campus, includes utilities, has a laundry facility and a wireless internet connection. The house has a living room, a kitchen and 3 bathrooms. Both the bedrooms up for rent are furnished. However, both the rooms vary in size and price.

Room 1: 11 feet by 10 feet - $450 per month. (8 month lease)

Room 2: 11 feet by 7 feet - $400 per month. (8 month lease)

Which room do you recommend I rent? Is the extra size worth the extra $50 I'd be paying every month? Is size of the bedroom really important since I'd also have access to the living room? Your opinion is appreciated, thanks!

I guess it really depends on you and the way you prefer to live and what type of things you'll be bringing. Did you check out both rooms? Can you see yourself living in room 2 comfortably for the next 8 months? Like, if you're really going to academic oriented and your roommates aren't as much as you then perhaps you'd be too distracted studying outside of your room so you'd be studying often in your room.

Think about your furniture. That was seriously the only deciding factor when my roommate and I picked our rooms. I had more furniture than she did, so I needed more wall space. Therefore, I got the room with more wall space. (Interestingly, because of the layout, it was the smaller room, but I'm digressing...) So if you need lots of space for your furniture, get the bigger room. Also, if you have claustrophobia, get the bigger room. Otherwise, I would save my money, get the smaller room, and order more pizza.

Go big or go home.

$50 for 30% extra area? Go for it!

Depending on the housemates, the living room tend to be a complete disaster. You won't want to hang out there often unless you have more than two guests over.

^agreed, I stay in my room a lot even though I get along perfectly with my roommates. sometimes you just wanna do your own thing instead of interacting with other people

Depends on how much you use. I have alot of dead / free space in my room which I don't use.
