Why do we procrastinate?
Just curious to see what some of your thoughts are as to why we do this(not to mention this thread is here because im currently procrastinating).
I was thinking of searching google for some kind of scientific theory on why we procrastinate..but ill do that later.

I misread this title so bad and let's just say, my version was way more interesting. D:
I procrastinate generally when it involve something I have to do/was told to do. Or even if I agreed to do something for somebody.
I don't like timeframes/schedules. xD I'll do it when I do it.

we just love to challenge ourselves... why make it easy on ourselves and spend weeks studying when you now have a chance to overload on caffeine and sugar and just cram everything you can into your head 12 hours before the exam
..... exactly what im doing at this moment

Because you just don't feel like doing whatever it is you're supposed to be doing. In some ways it's similar to political apathy.

It boils down to prioritizing and knowing your abilities.
If I'm assigned work that I know I can put off to, let's say, a day before, I might just do that and use the present time towards other endeavours. This would include other work that is more important, or watching Big Bang Theory.

agreed, in my case i put off all my work till the end telling my self "i wont do this next time, ill study ahead of time" but honestly what comes first would be:
- How i met your mother
- Big Bang Theory
- Community
then i can start studying after watching those latest episodes

same same.
Also, I know this contradicts procrastination but I'm DAMN productive when i procrastinate because i find excuses to do other things. "oh i cant work because i need to clean off my desk. Now i need food because you need nurishment to study etc etc."
this sums up my life:

Because I'm lazy and I don't feel like doing whatever it is I need to do.
Or usually because I see the task as too challenging to start, so I put it off until later, or a specifically dedicated timeframe later on, ex. "I'll dedicate all of wednesday to CAPA" which usually ends up being the due date.
