Wireless G/Wireless N ??
Help!
When I called the company Im getting internet from I asked if there were any specifications on what kind of router I'll need to buy, he said no.. any wireless router will work. So I bought one, turns out its Wireless G.
Im looking on the back of the box and it said "What you'll need" and it says I'll either need a Wireless G USB adapter, or a Wireless G Notebook card. So I'm kinda freaking out because from what I can remember when I bought my laptop, I have something like a Wireless N-half card.
So my questions are:
a) Whats the difference between G and N?
b) Is there a way I can check which card I actually have?
c) If I have N, does that mean my router is now useless to me unless I buy the USB adapter?
Thanks!

N is just faster than G. They made it backward compatible, so N also covers the band of G. G is the most common, so your laptop probably has the card for it.

You're probably better off with G. Wireless N isn't actually finished yet (it's been draft-N pretty much forever), but of course manufacturers jumped the gun and started selling devices with the incomplete standard anyway.
EDIT: Oh wait, they finally finished it last October, lol. Oh well, all the cool kids use G anyway.

If your laptop has a Wireless N network card, there's a very good chance that it's backward compatible and you should have no problem using it

G is perfectly fine.
N is the newest, so it works with all previous revisions (B,G, etc)
