Where and how do I get a deferred exam?
Hi this is my first time being really sick during exam time, and I am not sure how to get a deferred exam.

Are there any clinics in Hamilton I can go to? And do I have to be registered to those clinics? (I live outside of Hamilton). Is there a due date by which I have to get it? How will my prof know that I got a deferred exam?
My exam is tomorrow but I am not sure if I can get it until next Tuesday. And how much does it cost? I would really appreciate the help!!!

You could start by googling "McMaster deferred exam".

The form is online, and should also be accessible through your faculty's website, but I often find google is faster. You need to go to your faculty office, though - they should have the form there as well. The due date is on the form; I believe it's the end of the exam period but you should double-check that.

The medical form is different from the deferred exam form; this form is also available online and you can take it to any doctor. Sometimes the doctor charges money to fill this form out, but that depends on the clinic you go to. Your medical form must be dated at the time of illness, not afterwards (it also says this on the deferred exam form). So, if you can't get your illness form until next Tues, they might not accept it. They tend to give everyone a freebie deferred exam for things like sleeping in, getting the room wrong, etc, so if this is your first one it might not matter, but if it was me I wouldn't want to bank on that.

If it's a walk-in clinic then you don't need to be a patient there already...otherwise it wouldn't be "walk-in". You could also try campus health.

Unless things have changed in the past few years, Mac (unlike some other universities) does not charge for deferring an exam. You should google it though to make sure that it hasn't changed - it should say on the deferred exam form. But either way, if you're so sick you can't write the exam, then you can't write it regardless of whether or not you have to pay to defer it.
