I wasn't proposing that Singh got more votes because people thought he's a girl, just saying that I think most people haven't a clue about who the candidates are.

Meh, there were plenty of engineering candidates.
Now that I think about it I think the reason why Singh got so many votes was just exposure. No one showed up to the debates and I bet just as few read the platforms, and even the people who read/post on this forum is a small number. Combine that with the campaign team members and their friends, and that's still probably a very small percentage of the student body that engaged in this election.
I say exposure because I recall now that during one my classes, Elvikas(who came in second) and Singh(who came in third) went up in front of the class and said their little talk. They must've done that for days, for dozens of classrooms. Nevermind what they said or how they said it, the students just heard them talking and became aware of them running, and that was more than they could say for the other candidates.
