My multimedia courses generally dont have any exams, but the coursework is definitely heavier than most courses imo, my Religious Skepticism course was also 4 reflection papers and 2 final essays instead of an exam, my last course that doesn't have an exam is simply a full-year course so the final exam will happen next semester.

On a personal note I think that exams are a poor gauge of a students knowledge on course material. There's a lot of random chance when it comes to multiple choice tests and a student that went to lecture everyday may well come out of an exam with a similar mark as a student that merely crammed.
