This is what we're going to do: All girls who have read this thread will contact all their girlfriends at Mac and we will ALL go stand outside in a line outside of BSB according to height and hair colour. 7:00 on Tuesday the 13th.
If you, dear gentlemen, do not show up at this prime opportunity to meet women, then you have no reason to complain as to why you can't meet girls at Mac! We will make it easy for you.
/end complaining!

Remember please that Tuesday the 13th has not happened yet! We will ALL be there on that day. Calm down.

Ok so someone introduces themselves. Then? She'll eventually ask why you're talking to me, won't she? What's the apparent purpose (of course, everyone knows the real purpose)?

You make something up that plausible but trivial. E.g., forgot my watch - what's the time. From there you ask about other things. You need to be on attack mode, but don't actually physically attack them. Just verbally. Even then, don't get too aggressive. I'd say aim for medium aggression.

I don't think many girls would flat out ask "why are you talking to me?" After someone has introduced themselves they'll usually ask or say something else to you, so you know why the person has started talking to you (or at least the apparent reason), for instance asking about an assignment in a class.

I pretend I'm a first year and ask for directions to class. Be sure to pick a building far from where you are so you can start a conversation along the way. I usually introduce myself and ask them about their program, etc. When I reach my pretend destination, I ask for their contact information and casually mention that it'd be nice to hang out sometime.
I've been walked to class both times I've asked and got their #, teehee.
