More traditional relationships can still work in 2010, but there's nothing about marriage that blesses a couple with immunity from pain, infidelity and divorce.
Do you have any statistics to back up your argument?

Very true. I am not implying all marriages are successful and all common-law are failures. The success and failure of either depends on the parties joined. I was defending the concept of marriage in today's age where it is perceived as an unnecessary step in companionship due to the growing number of divorces. It was simply a remark against the claim that marriage subjugates women. Where, I believe, marriage honors them with a commitment and promise of a life-long relationship, instead of only looking at through the legal aspects.

Even with the legal matters aside, it still does not promise a life-lasting relationship.

You said "looks mean"
What if his eyebrows are just naturally shaped so it looks like he's always angry but he can't help it because it's geneticcccc?

I didn't say "looks mean," I said "being mean."

Oh okay. I meant having a scowl on your face, just generally not being happy. You know, like not looking approachable. I always think if was a kid and I was lost, does that person look like someone I'd go up to? And I know that appearance has nothing to do with your being a safe person... I don't know how to explain it. lol
