Experiences to have in undergrad before going to grad school
I just finished 2nd year undergrad at Mac. I am looking to do masters in bioinformatics in the future and I am still in the process of building/preparing myself for the goal. What kind of experiences should I have by next two years. Not only to qualify myself for the entrance to masters degree, but that will also keep me excited about learning, happy and positive when I am in graduate program?

Keep an open mind. You should try to simply have as many experiences as possible. The more you realize how much you hate other stuff, the more you'll enjoy what you're doing.
As for entrance into a master's degree, the key thing is to enjoy what you do. As long as you enjoy what you're studying, you'll enjoy your time doing a masters.
As long as you're excited about it, your should naturally tend to seek out experiences that will help you.

You're so young... you really don't know what you want yet. So keep an open mind.

I think the OP just finished his second year at Mac..

Hello there.

If you feel drawn to this sort of field, here are the types of courses that would benefit you in the long run:

From U Penn website on their computational bio curriculum:
http://www.bio.upenn.edu/programs/un...s/compbio.html

Likewise, Brown University curriculum for comp bio:
http://www.cs.brown.edu/ugrad/concen...s-bi_reqs.html

It looks like you will need a very solid math/programming background, and some knowledge of biology/biochem. Perhaps you should chat with some of the computational bio faculty at Mac, and hear what they have to say.

goliverjourn says thanks to macsci for this post.
