Undergraduate students enrolled in 18 units or more are automatically enrolled in the MSU Health and Dental Insurance Plans. The fees for these two plans are included in a student’s supplementary fees, paid with tuition. If a student is already covered under another health and/or dental plan, that student may opt-out of the MSU Health and Dental plans. Moreover, a student may opt-out of only one of the plans if they can demonstrate comparable coverage.
Furthermore, if a student is covered by another health and/or dental plan, but that coverage is not 100%, a student may utilize the MSU Health and Dental plan coverage and combine it for maximum coverage. As well, before opting-out of the MSU plans, it would be advisable to review one's benefits and compare the two plan, as the MSU plans may provide some coverage options that are not currently available under another plan.
The MSU Health and Dental opt-out period will run from September 1 to September 30, 2013. There are no exceptions to this deadline. Students must opt-out by demonstrating comparable coverage during this timeframe. To opt-out, have your policy number(s) ready and click:
