i agree - joshi is an okay prof. the only problem i had with the class was the class in that people didn't really take it seriously and tended to talk through the whole thing - so joshi was constantly asking people to be quiet. while i understand the class can be a bit boring, for someone like me with a disability who needs to record, it was a bit annoying having peoples' voices at the same time on my recorder.
tutorials were kind of a waste of time. the TA kept trying to get a conversation going but people were too busy on their phones and facebook. it was worth participation marks to show up.
the mid-term and final were all multiple choice. the assignment is a bit different in that you had 2 choices. the first was to be part of a discussion group where you meet with seniors who come to mac to talk about different issues, the other was where you go out in the community and work with a seniors' agency of some sort (i attended classes for a week and then did survey questions after at a seniors' centre). then you have to write a first-person essay of your experience.
the only bad experiences were when the class talked over a guest speaker to the point where the guest speaker refused to come back and once when joshi went on a rant about how white people have it so easy and are all automatically prejudiced. so if you're sensitive to that kind of stuff...
