Apparently there is a huge backlog of people trying to get into this course, and this is the largest backlog for all the History courses currently being offered for the 2011/2012 term.

Does anyone have any idea why this course is so in demand?

If it's required for your program, email the dept and have them give you a spot.
Note that it doesn't count as "required" if it's part of a list of which you need a certain number of units, unless none of the other courses are available.

Thanks for the input. I already did request a seat and that is how I found out about the huge backlog.
The chances of anyone getting a seat, even after making an official request, are slim to none and that is why I'm trying to find someone to trade Poli Sci 2D03 for that course.

On top of not being able to register for this course since early August, SOLAR has now "suspended" entry to me until later tonight for 5 hours (it is some sort of penalty for clicking too many times on the courses).

...I managed to get into the class 15 minutes before Wednesday's class began (official first lecture after the introductory one on Monday)...but didn't make it to that class because I wasn't officially registered, and then it was too late to attend by the time I registered...but I'm not complaining!!!
