Don't give up! Even if you can't find an open spot once SOLAR reopens next week people usually drop courses once classes begin because they change their minds. It is a pretty popular course but hopefully you luck out and get in.

I'm going into my final year and I need this course as a prereq for grad school and they won't open any spots for me either. It's just all based on luck I guess.

Have you looked into Bio 2A03 instead? You'd have to contact the graduate school to make sure it's eligible though.

You can try contacting the dept directly--I've heard they reserve a certain number of spots for people who need it for professional/grad schools. If not, it's available online via Athabasca--you'd just have to check to make sure the Athabasca course works for the grad schools you're applying to. It should, since it's preapproved as an equivalent to Kin 1Y03/1YY3, but it can't hurt to double-check. As Jeremy mentioned, Bio 2A03 could be another option.

What's the chance of even getting into Kinesiology 1Y03 before the add/drop deadline?

It's impossible to say. It depends on how lucky you are, whether you're on SOLAR at the right time, if/when people drop it, how many people drop it. Keep trying though!

are you doing a cellular biology / anatomy grad school?

I was wondering if bio 2A03 is pretty much the kin courses cause they sound pretty similiar. i check out the courses reviews and everything . As hard as i try they don't open a spot for me so i took bio 2a03 instead (but i took like 5 bios this year cuz its awesome)

I'm pretty sure kinesiology is more anatomy which physiology is... well... physiology. So the first is what the body is composed of and the second is how the body functions. You don't learn any anatomy that isn't related to physiology. So you pretty much only learn stuff like organs, and the brain kind of.

1Y03/1YY3 and 2A03 used to be antirequisites, but now that non-kin students are allowed to take 1Y03/1YY3, they've changed it without actually changing the courses.

1Y03/1YY3 has more anatomy, whereas the focus in 2A03 is physiology. I don't know if you learn less physiology in 1Y03/1YY3, it's just that it's spread over two terms and combined with anatomy.

FYI, the "tutorial" time slots are actually test slots for Friday quizzes. Just in case any of you have some luck.
