^^Agree! There's a lot of material but it all ties in and the quizzes are an easy 42-45% of you mark!

nope...its more about biodiversity and how to protect it and there is also some stuff of sustainable ecosystem (but not exactly like 1M03)

Saskia says thanks to Rhythm for this post.

There's no textbook/courseware. There are supplementary articles but he told us that he would never test us directly from the articles. So the only material you are responsible for knowing are the LECTURE SLIDES and the intro slides for quizzes.

its very light compared to other Life Sci courses...there are 8 quizzes and 1 midterm and a final (like the review suggests) and the material is also very easy

this course was pretty easy/boring and I found it hard to force myself to study for the exam (even though I had whole week) because the material was kinda of boring.
if you are looking for an easy course I would recommend this one but only if you are passionate about environmental science!

topics we covered so you can get idea about the course:
extremeophiles, ocean circulation, ocean biogeochemistry, polar ecosystems, coastal ecosystems, terrestrial ecosystems, climate change, ozone loss, algal blooms

some of the concepts were difficult to understand (bedrock rising/sinking, thermocline graphs, La Nina El Nino) especially since there was not textbook to clarify the material
but the TAs were really good at explaining it

there were some really cool things we learned about:
different parts of the ocean absorb different amounts of 02 (cold vs. hot, high vs. low latitude),
salinity varies across the ocean - tropics are salty, polar/coastal are less salty
coral bleaching
sulfates/aersols cause cooling so global warming effects are not as bad as they could be

overall if you had a choice between an elective or this course, pick your elective
remember, only pick courses if you're interested in them, not because you heard they're easy!
