This thread isn't about people being outraged about the cost of Peter George's plane ticket, but his wife's.

But since you brought it up, $13000 to fly to Australia is an outrageous amount of money, especially since he's supposed to be flying there to make money for the school. If he didn't spend as much, the money he raised could go farther...

In my opinion, they should've either paid for her ticket out of their own pocket, as most people would have to do. Or, buy her an economy ticket, and then the two can take turns who gets to sit in economy and who in executive. I know a couple on my flight who did that and it worked fine for them.

I don't know why it cost $13,000 even if they flew Executive First. Usually that can be justified if you're going to do work while on the flight because of how cramped economy class is.

However, the fact he brought his wife along at University expense and flew her executive first as well. This is just

I found it lame of the article to try and justify this with legitimate reasons she came on the trip, when according to the article she had enough time to do a bunch of other stuff at University expense...

I generally defend Peter George's expenses, but this is very excessive. There's absolutely no reason that students should have to pay for his wife to go with him.

Well first of all I didn't understand what was the point of payin' him a milli when he retired? When he already has such a good pension plan!

I want to know what she does for a living. If her being there was beneficial due to her professional experiences, then this expenditure could be partially justified. However if she got a free week of vacation while the former president attended the convention this really is a waste. It surprises me that spousal travel was covered in the ex-presidents contract to be honest.

Mac is ridiculous with senseless spending. And we should be more outraged and do something about it.

Did you guys see the new @commons building? They have literally dozens of plasma TVs hanging from the walls to tell you how much a damn sammich costs. I would have been mighty fine with a basic chalkboard menu! And they are paying for this senseless renovation by another hike in food costs.
