What harm is there in broadcasting better health opportunities?
That's always how these things go. If someone talks about vegetarianism, someone who isn't a vegetarian is going to go on the defensive and say things are being shoved down their throat. Similarly, I recall being pissed off when people claimed vegetarianism/veganism is "stupid" (that's the scientific evidence against it, apparently) when I was a vegan.
tl;dr: The OP never said "if you eat meat, you're f***ed."

Yes but the OP got their information on the benefits of not eating meat from a meatless monday website. That bothers me, I don't care what people eat. I think people can eat meat and be healthy, but its all about portions. If you eat meat everyday for dinner you probably wont live for long, or you might?

If I was a member of such club and I'm trying to promote it. I would personally organize the thread so its easy to read.
All answered questions will be moved to the first post with proper Content heading and links.
This isn't the first time I see someone being afraid of a bit of heated discussion on MI. Its a discussion board, lets use it! Will there be memes and trolls? Most likely... But that shouldn't scare people of.

I completely agree that you can eat meat and be healthy. I'm a health nut myself, and if it were unhealthy to eat meat in moderation I wouldn't be doing it. But there are sources outside of the Meatless Monday site that boast the benefits of a meatless diet.

It's not scary, it's just annoying for people who are genuinely interested in the topic, and potentially offensive to peoples' values. If I was a vegetarian and had to sift through "lolololololol ur so stupid" troll posts, I'd be kind of pissed.
The first meme I see, I'm going to do the most disappointed head-shake I can muster.
EDIT: It looks as though it's no longer a question period, her allowance was removed... Haha.

Yeah, I decided that it is a better idea to answer inquiries in person or by e-mail.

We can always use the mob mentality to overcome it. Eventually once everyone realize they can properly discuss thing, the trolling will stop.
If you want to get technical about it. It is against the rule to be off topic/trolling anyway. With proper moderation and participation by the user base, it will work!

I dont' see why thats better. If you're promoting an event and want to post it here, on a discussion board you're bound to get questions. I do see that e-mail might cover your butt more, i mean you dont want to say something on a discussion board that represents your club poorly. In that sense I understand, but whatever. I just had some ribs

It just seems like if you go the meatless route, you have to make a conscious effort to have a variety.
I'm probably wrong though.

Vegetarians have a bad rep in these countries, they are thought of as if they only eat salad errday lol. I have hear people saying that they can't eat grass everyday like a horse. But to be honest, Vegetarian diet was not suitable for cold countires such as Canada because you need fat to keep yourself warm. Therefore, not many delicious western vege cuisines exist.
I would suggest to try some Indian cuisines since India is heavily about 40% lacto vegetarian. There is a huge variety, yuumy and cheap food, which you can cook!!

Just a note here (and not directed at you alh24 because I'm taking this a bit out of context with respect to your post):
This type of argument comes up all the time in discussions/debates/etc. "Is eating a vegetarian diet a healthier alternative?" "Sure, here's 3 sources."
Without even looking at the credibility of the sources (let's assume they're all scientifically sound), this is a logical fallacy known as a "Proof by appeal to authority." Another example which hopefully illustrates the problem a little better: "Is there life on other planets?" "Yep. Because Stephen Hawking, one of earth's great thinkers, believes so."
The problem with citing sources as a means of convincing someone is that there are always counter-sources. You'd have to sit down and analyze which are more accurate, which haven't had 'fudged statistics' and in short, which are more credible. Without being an expert in the field, no one can really do this. (This is one of the problems that arises in almost every single global warming debate I've ever participated in) In short, sure a paper may have been published and peer reviewed, but there's a lot of politics that goes on behind the scenes. It's easy to 'fake' statistical significance (more detail on this if anyone asks).
Instead what works better is to use personal testimonials. A woman I tutor claims her energy levels and overall fitness improved when she cut out 'bad meats' from her diet. Likewise I know someone else whose blood pressure fell dangerously low (in the range of like 80/55) when she adapted to a vegan diet, and red meat was literally doctor recommended. It leads me to believe that different body types need different diets.

Of course. My roommate didn't respond well to B12 supplements, for some reason, so her doctor recommended she eat meat unless she considered it absolutely mandatory that she didn't, in which case she'd have to make regular appointments to obtain it a different way (injection? I don't know).
Or she didn't want to admit that she fell off the vegan wagon I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, I guess.

Those of you insane enough to consider this ludicrous proposition fail on all four counts of protein consumption.
Congratulations, you collapsed the Swanson Pyramid of Greatness.
