Provost's Honours List
Since Daily News ran an article on this, I was wondering if anyone knows the full list for 2007-2008? Just curious.

Cheers!

They're just 2 out of 53, but I'm sure most of them would be in health sci (because of the inflated grades)

They get to assign their own grades a lot of the time so that Mac has students going into med school with the best averages.

They had a musical last year that they all got 12's for. It'd be nice if us engineers could get marks for ours..

lol, that's what I meant.

When going for a thesis interview, one of the profs said that due to my program my marks are actually legitimate ... unlike a certain faculty that he won't disclose the name of.

Hello everyone Isn't saying that everyone in health sci has inflated grades a stereotype, just like saying that everyone in humanities is a slacker? For people who have read the previous posts, please take them for what they are - opinions and misconceptions of people who have not taken the time to get all their facts straight. The Provost's medal is a huge academic achievement and should be treated as such, regardless of faculty.

Annie, Fa11enAnge1, lorend, maya_kanani, Saleha, shreyaroy all say thanks to Woody for this post.

I would say it's not a stereotype based on the fact they get marks for a musical.

Humanities is genuinely difficult to do well (ie: 12s in every course) due to the subjective nature of their essays.

Considering you get marks for a musical and get to grade yourself in some of your courses... you fill in the blanks.

Granted, second year health sci is much more difficult than first year (which is what many people base their assumptions). I've still heard tons of complaining about they only have "2 days to study for a midterm", then I just laugh.

I think it's hard to argue that it's much to get on Provost if you're in Health Sci, than a program like Engineering. Nevertheless, congratulations to those who made it.

While reading the program, I couldn't help but notice just how many of these recipients of both the President's Award and Provost's Honour were Health Scis. :/

Methinks things may be inflated just a tad.

ok, i think its unfair to say that they ar einflated especially when we dont knwo the whole story. the health sci kids are the ones with the highest admissions coming into any program which means that they are SMART, which also means they are dedicated and have good work ethic which could translate into a 12 average at MAC. if most of them follow that model then obviously most of them would be on provost's and presidents awards
