Scholarship Questions
Hopefully every one is having a SUPER summer. I have a few questions regarding scholarships. For students that achieve a 9.5 (80%) average, do they recieve the same scholarship amount that they got in first year or is it a different amount. Also, do we automatically get considered for other scholarships depending on our marks and how often do people get these.
Im curious because i luckily landed right on the 9.5 mark.
Thanks.

You receive the same scholarship as the one they gave to you before. So if you had a 2000$ entrance scholarship last year, then you get another 2000$ this year.
Most of the scholarships are non-applied, so you are already considered for them. Visit here to see all the undergraduate awards:

Is summer school included?
Hi,
I had an average above a 9.5 with 24 units in first year, but now i am taking summer school, and one of 2nd year courses isn't going so well (Econ). Will they count the summer courses towards my GPA for the scholarship, or is the summer separate?
Thanks in advance!

I don't think summer school courses count towards your scholarship, since they are based on your sessional average (i.e. the past year). They will count toward your cumulative average, so they will be used to calculate your GPA for next year.

Allow me to explain why your amount doesn't go up:
When you first enter McMaster, you are awarded the full scholarship...Let's say, $4,000 over 4 years (I think they stretch it over 4 years now).
You are awarded $1,000 in your first year, and will continue to receive $1,000 per year as long as you remain in a first class academic standing (9.5 average).
You're not actually 'getting a new scholarship' each year...you're merely continuing to cash in on your old one.
