				second year eligibility (engineer)?

This is what it says for me at the end of my grade report.

 REGISTRATION FOR SEP11-APR12
     ELIGIBLE FOR
          B ENG , ELEC ENG CO-OP
     INELIGIBLE FOR
          B ENG , CIV ENG
          B ENG , SOFTWARE ENG
          B ENG , MATLS ENG

                                       DATE: 05/27/11

I completely understand the eligible part (my gpa was high enough)
but i dont get is the ineligible part. elec eng has higher gpa to get in (7), software eng is (4). so why no?

When you're eligible for your first choice, you're automatically ineligible for the others. Don't worry, the other streams didnt reject you.

Not necessarily...it varies from year to year...and frankly I've never heard of people getting into ElecEng with just a 4...I'm obviously not in Elec so I'm not 100% sure of that, just saying I've never heard of it..

Lol, wouldnt you think one who is in Elec Eng would know if people with 4.0 get in?

Also, elec eng is almost always in 4 range, the reason is because there are so many seats available.

Lots of spots in elect eng compared to others... 4.0 sounds right. Gratz, either way.

Why does Electrical have alot of spots? I always thought that civil would have the most spots, since civil has the most job opportunities (or pretty close to it).

I have a hunch it could be Physics 1E03 that ward off most people. Both midterm averages was in the low 50's and it is purely related to Electrical Engineering (as oppose to Physics 1B03 that is purely related to Mechanical). I cannot count how many times during the tutorials that my peers couldn't wait until they set this course aside, as they cannot stand it.

Good times.

I wouldn't doubt that Civ has some of the largest availability of jobs: You can work in so many different areas, it's ridiculous. In the field, there's as many Civil jobs as in the office. The number of jobs posted on OSCAR doesn't reflect how many jobs are available in real life. I won't deny that there are a lot of civil engineers out there either, so I would say civil companies don't have to try really hard to recruit co-op students from school.
