switching programs
okay so I am first year and dead set on switchhing programs, but of late I have been hearing so many different ways to do so, from CAs, and different academic advisors. I am hhear wishing people could get their stories straight. I am currently in engineering and wanting to get out into wither anthhropology or history( both are my passions). I was wondering if any one can help me out here, some people are telling me I need to switch faculities now and others say I can apply to the sub section during major choosing. If anyone can help it would be a great help.
Thanks
Sam

Hey as long as you take the required courses for History/Anthropology, you can apply during course selection in June for those programs. I don't think program switches happen officially in the school year except for those times.

Yeeah they think you're not going to get a job.
But if you're not happy in Eng it's pointless to force yourself through another couple year of it. One of my friends switched from Eng half way through second year (i.e. he stopped taking Eng classes) into Philosophy and English. He had to do an extra year to meet all the requirements, but he said he was much happier than we would have been in Eng.
As for switching programs, you don't do that officially until the end of the year when you select your Level II program.

To make sure, you can go to the academic advisors for history and anthropology. Everyone that I know who has switched programs consulted the advisor for the department they are switching into. It doesn't take a lot of time and will eliminate your confusion. Hope that helps.
