Look up the requirements for the program that you want to switch to - especially their year 1 courses. Then take as many of these as you possibly can. I would
talk to an academic advisor for your faculty before hand so that they can possibly get you into required courses or give you any advice. If they're offered, you could always take courses during summer school if you need to make up credits in your desired program and then you could start year II with no worries.
