Third year psychs
I wanted to take psych 3CD3, psych 3YY3, psych 3B03, and psych 3F03. I was wondering if anyone who took these courses could tell me more about it or post a course review.

If I could only give you 1 piece of advice, that would be avoiding Psy 3F03. This course consists of reading 15-16 journal articles , 2 of them are close to 20 pages long. 60% exam, 2/3 mid-terms worth 20% each. The materials he can test on is so broad, and there are so many little things and stats you need to memorize. I am not in Psy, and I did poorly. One of my friend who is major in Psy got a 10 going into the exam and ended up with a 7.

Don't take it!

Ugh, totally agree. I was so excited for this course because of the subject matter but I found it insufferable to sit through- the prof takes material that can be covered in an hour and somehow manages to ramble on for three hours about it. These articles we have to read every week are tested on, and we barely ever discuss them in class.

Ae1011, Neila.b, did you think Psych 3F03 was an interesting course?

If it was interesting, was it worth taking it despite its hardness/difficulty?

Feinberg is teaching it. Does that makes a difference?

I had Daly, so it would be unfair for me to judge. Daly and his wife used to teach this course together. Even some of the journal articles we covered in class were published by them. After Daly's wife past away, he taught the class by himself. Email Feinberg about the course outline, if it's the same structure, aka reading journal articles , don't take it...

For interests sake, It's an amazing class, I still rmb some of the findings and experiments he talked about in class, ex: facial attractiveness between sexes, Language, foraging etc.

A friend of mine had Feinberg in summer, she said it's not as bad as Daly, but you would still need to read the articles...

I took 3F03 with Dr. Daly. The material was extremely interesting and like one of the previous posters mentioned, some of it really sticks. Midterms were fair just remember to keep up with the required readings. Final exam was also fair but was a doozy being 3 hours long. Do not be fearful of the journal articles to read as its evened out by the fact there is not a required text. Additionally, doing the readings before class will give you an advantage of understanding the material presented during the lecture. I heard the class is with Feinberg as well this upcoming year. We had him as a guest lecturer and he conveyed his information very well and appeared to not go as in depth as Dr. Daly. Good luck if you decide to take the class and if you do I'm sure you'll find it as interesting as I did!
