Volunteer/Research Position Opportunity – St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
The Clinical Neuropsychology Laboratory, located at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, is currently providing an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain experience in
clinical research.
We are primarily interested in the interplay of certain factors within
psychiatric illnesses (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder). They include
psychosocial functioning (social cognition),
cognitive performance (executive function, autobiographical memory),
emotion regulation, and
neurobiological mechanisms (autoimmune response, stress markers).
Volunteer position requires a commitment of at least
4 hours/week and a
minimum of 80hrs for completion. After successful completion, a certificate and/or reference letter verifying volunteer/clinical/research hours will be provided. All volunteers will need to register with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Volunteer Services prior to placement.

Job Description:
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the research effort in a number of ways. This may include, but is not limited to:
● Assisting staff with data collection from participants in a clinical setting (St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Centre for Mountain Health Services)
● Telephone scheduling of clinic assessments
● Working with other research team members, including principal investigators, graduate students, and research scientists
● Administrative and data entry tasks associated with the study (proficiency in MS Office Suite)
Skills required:
● Some university education in allied health field or health sciences (BHSc, Life Sciences)
● Well organized, attention-to-detail, and ability to handle many tasks concurrently
● Professional and mature in handling with confidential and sensitive information
● Experience in a research setting is an asset, however, training will be provided
● The ability to work with other members of the team
