Goodbye WebCT
So what does everything think of using elm?
I have had a chance to use it.. and I have to say its pretty ugly but thats probably becuase the prof was getting used to it. One thing I really didnt like is the discussion forumns. Its way to organized and not as simple as webCT was. ELM tries make it all nice and it just makes it complicated.

It seems like just to see my classes i have to click 3+ times, instead of once.
This will be quite tedious.....

Me neither...
But, that could also be the fact that none of my courses will be on there at all.

They're probably talking about summer school courses.

I really don't know what was wrong with WebCT, I thought it was great, no complaints. I'll have to see about this ELM thing.

WebCT is about a million years old, lol. My boss, who used to teach at Seneca, saw me on it and was really surprised that McMaster still uses it. Apparently most schools got rid of it a long time ago.
In regards to the discussion boards on WebCT... they were okay. It would have been nice to have some features like edit/delete a post.
Overall though; ya, I didn't have many complaints about it :p.

I didn't like the discussion boards at all... I never used them as a result.

their main reason for replacing WebCT is becuase of security issues. ELM is a lot more secure. Some summer classes got to use it first hand. Its going to frustrating for a lot of people this coming year. It also seems to have browser issues with a lot of peoples computers. First semester courses that will use ELM probably will be having a lot of technical issues. I think around second semester people will get used it.
