Self pacing looks good on paper though. It should theoretically help students learn vital skills such as time management.

Indeed. The lessons I learned were a lot more like "How to start and finish your final project in a single night and get away with a C", or "How to beg your teachers for one extra day."

...Neither of which apply in university.
